The Editorial Team

Below, you can find information about the members of the editorial team behind the new series of The Courier.

Hegel Goutier — Editor-in-Chief

Hegel has 22 years experience as a journalist specialising in ACP-EU cooperation. After a short spell as a scientific researcher, he turned to the media using his background in science to write about the European scientific research programmes that had a development angle. He went on to work for Radio France International where he covered ACPs for a Caribbean and Latin American readership. As Associate Assistant Editor of the former ACP-EU Courier in 1994, he was successful in making the content more appealing for a wider audience. He went on to become Press and Spokesperson for the ACP Group. Hegel runs his own press agency Grand Angle which stands him in good stead for leading and inspiring the ACP Editorial Team.

Debra Percival — Journalist (English Speaking)

A skilled wordsmith, Debra has written for many publications and in different styles from press agency news to annual company reports. Her specialised knowledge of the European Union development policies, garnered as a journalist for the ACP-EU Courier and as a Brussels correspondent for an international news wire is a veritable asset to the Courier magazine.

Marie-Martine Buckens — Journalist (French Speaking)

Marie-Martine has more than 23 years experience in EU journalism, with a predilection for environmental, agricultural and energy issues, subjects which she studied closely in her “first life” devoted to scientific teaching. After having worked for European news agencies, French and Swiss daily newspapers - and organised with the assistance of the European Commission International Conferences, in particular on forest policies – she founded her own newsletter “La Filière de l’Environment/Greensleeves” before joining in July 2008 the Courier’s team.
